Intention Management

I try to subscribe to the reality that the Universe unconditionally supports us in our intentions, gives us something better, and/or only our best intentions get heard.

The challenge then becomes keeping track of our intentions, so that we see what we manifest. And, also, given that in quantum reality form follows thought, being aware of what reality we anchor to in a given moment.

Perhaps we have been trying to get together with a friend for months and on the day of our appointment, he calls to say he can't make it. If we anchor into our thought of "oh, we are never going to get together", we might prematurely give up, and not look for or see when we can get together. Suppose it just doesn't work out. We then have the opportunity to anchor to a reality of disappointment... maybe getting down on ourselves for not having enough friends, etc... or we might think, "the Universe provide just who I need to be with at the right time", and trust that it just wasn't the right time to get together with the particular friend.

Another complication with intentions is that we ask for something, then forget we asked for it, or exactly what we asked for. We ask for a quiet weekend at home, then in the middle of the quiet weekend wonder why our friends aren't calling us. Once I asked for a travel companion to get me from Thailand to the Himalayan region of Ladakh in India. I almost asked for a "boyfriend", but then modified my request to a good lover. I also had intentions for learning better how to shift reality. A few hours later I met a bi Aussie guy who was looking for a tantric teacher. My experience with erotic Reiki formed enough of a basis for our intentions to overlap. Really, he was more than I could asked for as far as a companion, lover, friend, peer, student, and teacher. He helped me navigate my first travel in India. We enjoyed many crazy mystical experiences together. We definitely channeled some very heightened Tantric states. Our relationship started to crumble a bit when we got to Ladakh. The overlap of our intentions began to disintegrate as we found we had different interests. I wanted to trek and was interested in a group of wandering clowns, wizards, magicians. He was less interested in trekking, was overwhelmed with the tantric states we were achieving, and more interested in hanging out with other travelers. We tried to stick it out and picked up some other traveling companions. But the new situations weren't really meeting my intentions or desires. Our new group was attached to me, as was he. In hindsight, had I remembered my intentions and had the courage to stick with them, I would have realized it was time for us to part in Ladakh. I had asked for a quasi-lover to get me to Ladakh... and that part went smoothly. I had intentions for trekking that weren't getting met with the new group in the present. I made the conscious choice to stay with them in hopes that the mystical states would continue, mistakenly thinking that those states were dependent on my traveling mate.

My view of connections with people is very unconditional and here and now. I tend to have explosive (in a good way connections) where a lot of magic is exchanged and once that is completed, a separation until we have something to share/exchange together again. I see my life as a giant flow of Reiki... like a Reiki session on a grand scale. Just as in Reiki I may touch someones knee for a while, then move my hands to channel Reiki to their feet or head, in my life I touch a person for a while and then move on, to come back later, or not. It's all good, to highest good, Divine, and efficient. My new traveling companions and quasi lover were quite attached to the idea of keeping me along. The Aussie Bloke occasionally writes and asks if I am going to come visit him. When I feel a pull of energy, a sense that our intentions are overlapping again, then I shall. But as intense and wonderful as the time we shared together was, I know better than to try to force it or expect it again.

In hindsight, which is always 20/20, I see how had I kept better track of my intentions I might have made different choices and created different experiences. More importantly, had I remembered my intentions, I might have spared myself some suffering. That's not to say I didn't have some marvelous experiences, or that what I did end up doing wasn't perfect in it's own way... just that I might have made it easier on myself.

Now, more than ever, it is important to keep track of your intentions, be clear in what you ask for, because things are moving fast now. It is a time of great cleansing and healing transformation upon the Earth. Muddled thoughts and intentions are getting thrown into our faces.

Remember that no matter what you can always tap into Unconditional Love and Joy, even when it seems you are not getting what you want or asked for... then re-hone your intentions, and ask again. Navigate through your intentions with grace and perspective. Maybe you ask for a job that fits a variety of constraints/intentions, and get your eyes set on a particular job. It is fine to set your intention for that particular job. But if the job doesn't work out, it is important to relax your intention to that of manifesting the right job for you... and trust that if that job had been the right one, you would have gotten it. At the same time, it is important to make sure you are not blocking your self from the job with counter thoughts, such as not being good enough, etc. "Above" the job intention, might be the intention to channel a certain amount of money, housing, food, etc. And, "above" that is loving yourself unconditionally, choosing to tap into Unconditional Joy regardless of your job, etc.

I urge you to create a book... the book that will be your Truth. The credos that you live by. The things that inspire you. The stories of your life that have brought you the greatest joy. And also a record of your current intentions, so that you can see what you manifest, and modify your intentions as needed. A book of things you are grateful for is also useful, as is a book of affirmations, reflecting the current patterns you are incorporating into your way of Being.

Dharma Talk: A Question about Surrender

Question:

Life is such a tango isn't it?! i want to surrender to it, i feel like I'm ready to let go a bit more. All i want is to be of use to the universe, and get myself out of the way so that it can sing through me!

Answer:

I have been working on that surrender thing myself.

You are of most use to the Universe when you are in your Joy, meaning that you are just as Divinely of Service to the Universe whether you are teaching yoga or taking a nap. It's as much about being in flow with your unique self.

There is a bit of dichotomy in the process as well, for a truly enlightened person will be at peace wherever they are, and yet also realize that honoring themselves is part of the process. So you don't need to be any sort of martyr to provide selfless service, and yet if you find yourself in a matyr-like position, you might as well enjoy it. This is where Empowerment comes in... finding your power in the moment and making a conscious choice both in the present moment and in your intention for the next moment. For instance, if you were suddenly feeling like a matyr in taking care os someone, you might decide to continue to and chanel the infinite energy of the universe, or you might choose to ask for a replacment to take over.

And its all about whatever story you put to It. If you are practicing surrender, you need to be acutely aware of what you are surrendering to. For us intentionalists, it can be messy to bridge into the reality of surrender. For example I try to live that the universe will provide me with perfect lovers, adventures, abundance, and I have some preconceived intentions/ideas about what those are. If I remember that I am choosing the reality of the Universe just automatically providing the best for me, then I can make out alright. But if I am thinking such things as I get given crappy lovers when I travel, or perhaps feel like my mission in the moment is to paint a painting and why is a lover being thrown in my face... then I may be continually second guessing/not accepting what the universe is offering me when I surrender.

In Indian philosophy, there is bhakti and jnana. Bhakti is "thy wish"... total devotion to all, and jnana is "my wish", total intention and empowerment. Both paths are valid, it's just knowing which one you are on.

To sum up, listen to what glows, follow it in complete trust. Reaffirm your intentions/reality. Practice non-attachment, for it is a big thing to truly surrender to your highest self. Practice Unconditional Love.

And Finally, the short and sweet I've been waiting for:

Use your "vision"... that of the universe singing through you... create that into an affirmation, because the vision integrates all the little details:

The Universe sings through me as I sing and dance my highest spirit through life.
I sing, I dance, I am.
Each moment I am Present
I sing, I dance, I am
Each step I take is aligned with my Highest Spirit
I sing, I dance, I am
I honor the Universe in all that I do
I sing, I dance, I am
The Universe honors me and supports me unconditionally
I sing, I dance, I am
My life is a song and beautiful dance
I sing, I dance, I am

...

try it... tweak it... make the affirmation work for you... repeat often, at least once a day, and see where it leads you....

Blessings
DhamiBoo

I find a practice such as Reiki helps because if you simply focus on the Reiki energy, then you are pretty much "there".

The Thin Line to Empowerment and Unconditional Love

The days turn into weeks as I live a life of seva in the Butternut Valley of NY. Mundane, terribly mundane, and yet the mystical is there most daily as I pick up the slack left by my deceased Uncle in visiting my Aunt who lays quite debilitated by Alzheimers in a nursing home.

Most every day that I drive the rolling hills to town to see my Dear Aunt, I am struck by subtle visions of power animals and the like. It's hard seeing her and the nursing home full of people that seem to be suffering... or rather seem to be lacking in enjoyment of their incarnation on life. It's easiest when I can be in a place of Unconditional Love and Empowerment, trusting that they have choices spiritually... that their existence is Divine in spite of the seeming suffering that my ego perceives.

It's hard for me to remember the reality of Empowerment. I find myself oft in judgment rather than acceptance and non-attachment, though I do have my breakthroughs. It's best when I remember to channel Reiki. One day I sat with my Aunt and happened to think to hold my stone from Ghandi Tal against her gnarled hand. This is the stone that vibrated me out of the reality of cold symptoms and knee pain into remembering that I could indeed shift my energy field and reality into one of health and full function of my knees. As I held the stone against her hand, her eyes brightened. I think she felt it.

It's difficult to break the shackles of judgment. To refrain from imposing the concept that the residents in the nursing home are stuck, miserable, and suffering. To try to think that they have the power to heal, the power to choose, the power to leave their earthly realm when they wish. And yet, I know as a healer, that that is the best space I can try to hold for them and myself. To remember that I can step outside my judgments and beam unconditional love towards them. That I can choose to be in a place of joy, and try to shed that light upon them. Instead of walking through the hallways of invalids, eyes downcast in saddness, I can validate their presence with eye contact and smiles. Sharing my trust in God with them. Sharing my belief that they can be healthy and whole with them. For if I choose the former reality, then we are all stuck in it... most of all... me..... and if I choose the latter reality, then I move myself into it, and carry others with me.

Unconditional Love: Short and Sweet

I was interviewed in Rishikesh a few days ago for a Ukrainian TV broadcast about Spirituality in India. One of the questions I was asked was to define Love ... which stumped me because I usually only think in terms of Unconditional Love... so I stumbled and said Love is a vibration. My mind clicked in about 6 hours later long after the fact and recalled that I've written and thought much about Unconditional Love and I came up with a new short and sweet definition:

Love: seeing the Divinity in something or someone.

Unconditional Love: acknowledging and/or believing in the Divinity in something or someone even when you can't see it.

Loving ourselves is about seeing and/or acknowledging our own Divinity.

Divinity is merely acknowledging that we are all a part of creation... you can insert God's or Goddess' creation if that is how you see the world. You can also insert other words such as beauty in place of Divinity.
